XPS 15 (9530) Volume Keys Don't Work

Hi, my volume keys (multimedia keys shared with F2, F3, F4) don't work.  The keys work as Function Keys and I have tried them with both the Fn key depressed or not.  I have also checked BIOS and made sure Multimedia keys are defaulted to on first.  Other keys work, like screen brightness etc..

Things I have tried:

1) I tried downloading and installed Dell Quickset, but that made no difference.

2) Dell Support had the keyboard replaced, that didn't fix it (I didn't think it would).

I am running Windows 8.1 with the latest updates and Dell drivers.
Since I use the computer for multimedia purposes, I really need the one touch access to the volume.

I would appreciate any insight someone might have that will help.

DELL E6410, E5410, E6510 with NVS 3100 graphics HAVE issues with the latest windows drivers.  This drivers may cause unusual behavior that among other things does not start the video when returning from sleep.  The solution was found on another question of this forum, the video drivers must be completely removed and a DELL certified older version must be installed. Here is being repeated to make it easy to find and understand.

1. Open the charms bar by moving the mouse to right top corner of the screen and in the search box, Start typing devmgmt.msc and then press enter.
2. Select the device under Display adapters and right click on it.
3. Now select properties.
4. In the properties window, under Driver tab, click on Uninstall button.
5. Check “Delete the driver software for this device.”
6. You want to delete the driver click OK.
7. After the uninstall finishes restart the system. Then reinstall the video card driver on the system using the link below.

Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver for Inspiron 15R SE (7520) with Win 10

Hi,

I have a Inspiron 15R SE (7520) with Win 10 (clean installation). The Intel Rapid Storage Technology is enabled, but the start up speed and system response is a little bit slower compared to Win 8.1. Then I update the Driver from the one provided by Dell to 14.6.0.1029, the start up and system response speed improved a lot. However, in the Derangement Optimizer, my driver is showed as SSD and I can not optimize it. Shall I downgrade to the old driver?

Another problem is the irstrtsv error shows every five minutes. It is caused by the Intel Rapid Start Technology. Is there any way to fix this issue? Probably a bios update?

BTW, Dell please update the Conexant Audio Driver for Win 10...

E5410, E6410, E6510 touchpad with erratic behavior

We have identified an issue with the Dell Touchpad on models E5410, E6410, E6510 touchpad with erratic behavior.  We have to assume that this models may not share exactly the same TouchPad and loading the DELL Touchpad drivers on same of the units cause erratic behavior.  IF you are experiencing erratic touchpad behavior please uninstall the DELL Touchpad driver which would bring the Windows default touchpad drivers that seems to resolve the issue.

Please watch this video on how to uninstall a program in windows 7

uninstall DELL touchpad driver.

XPS 13 Bluetooth issue, Windows 10

I am having a strange bluetooth problem with my XPS 13 that I haven't found a solution for anywhere on the web. I have a bluetooth mouse that connects fine, and doesn't lose connection. The problem is that if i have the mouse connected and put my laptop into sleep mode, then turn off the mouse, upon resuming windows it doesn't detect that the mouse has been disconnected. I am running Windows 10, and I have a setting enabled that disables the touchpad when a bluetooth mouse is connected, so as you can imagine the device becomes very difficult to use in the situation that this issue creates. This is definitely an issue with Windows 10, not the laptop, but if anyone has a solution to this problem(not a workaround), it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

Got my new XPS 13 yesterday. I use excel everyday and has noticed early on that some of the function keys, F2 (open cell) and how to switch through tabs in excel dont work like it does on my desktop at work.

Also, I log into a HVD (remote server / comp) when I work from home and the resolutions on my screen gets completely destoyed when I use this. Its tied to a citrix program somehow.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? Appreciate any help.

Thanks

Fan problem - starts blowing when shut down

I have a weird problem ever since i installed win10.

What i have already done the following:

- Used every tool on the Dell website so all drivers are OK and no problems were found

The problem:

When I shut down my laptop, my fan starts blowing. And it doesn't stop until the battery dies. The only way to stop the fan from blowing is to hold the powerbutton for a few seconds, something i dont like doing.

It happens when i try to put it into sleep mode, hibernate, etc.

Another issue it the fact that the laptop wont start again after the fan has started blowing, even if it simply is in sleep or hibernate mode.

First i thought a bad driver for the win10 update, but since there are no newer drivers, i am lost.

Hardware:

Inspiron 15 7537

Intel core i7-4510U CPU@2.00GHz

16GB RAM

Can somebody help me with this?
(there are no other issues)

Failing hard drive?

Hi all, recently got a refurbished alienware 17... I was one of the unlucky ones to get a lemon it seems.

Of all the problems Ive had, the biggest one has just reared its head, I think the HDD is failing.

I get interitten freezes constantly that last 5-30 seconds, the mouse still moves but nothing works, just freezes.
Then I got a 'no bootable drive' error and could not boot windows. Checked BIOS and the HDD and SSD were both being detected. Ran the included AW diagnostics and again, both drives were detected and returned no errors.
Tried to reboot the next day (today) and it worked, but upon resetting I am now getting an error "Check Cable connection: PXE-MOF"
It flashes brefly with a message saying no media present then goes to that screen, cant get any further, it just tells me to reboot and select proper device or insert boot media.

Figured I could just reinstall windows, except i dont have an optical drive or bootable USB, the windows installation is partitioned on the HDD.
Also got given a dodgy windows key that isnt accepted so cant use the official windows page to download a new windows as it requires you to enter your key, which isnt recognised.
Windows support have been no help on this front.
Dell support managed to link me to THEIR windows boot for 8.1 which is an OEM version so doesnt need a key, but to use it it says to check the edition of Windows your using, which I have no idea how to find out without being able to actually boot my system.
Meanwhile Dell support wont help any further because the name attached to the service tag for my machine is still linked to the old owner (I bought it refurbished through Dell's official listings), until I can get that sorted Im receiving very limited support, Its now the weekend and nothing else can be done but I have a LOT of work that im fallling behind on and cant get it done without a suitable laptop.

SO, does ANYONE have any idea what I should do?
Summary:
No bootable device/check cable connection PXE-MOF screen.
HDD and SSD both detected in BIOS and return no errors in diagnosis.
No install options for reinstalling windows as it is partitioned.
Option to install from USB but need to check windows version (or is this not overly important?).
Hoping to install windows to SSD anyway which seems to work fine, just not sure on how to do it.
Not overly computer savvy with hardware so hoping for some pretty lamen advice.

At the end of my tether at the moment so any help is ridiculously appreciated.

Cheers

Laptop came with Win 8.1, upgraded to Win 10.

Dell Backup and Recovery was also updated. Ask me to create a Factory Recovery Media.

My question is.. Will the created factory recovery media restore my computer to Win 8.1 or Win 10?

If I use the 'Create Recovery Drive' that came with Windows 10, will it restore my computer to Win10?

Thanks

Inspiron 7737 Windows 10 sleep mode problem

$

I recently upgraded my OS to Windows 10 (using clean install) and now I have one strange problem.

When I close the lid to put my laptop to sleep, it does some stuff for a couple of seconds (hdd led indicator blinking) and then just sits there with cooling fan on. When it happens, there is no way to wake it up. Display is completely off, no led indicators blinking, no reaction on keyboard/touchpad/touchsreen or usb mouse activity, only cooling fan spins. All I can do is hold the power button to kill it and then start again.

It happens not all the time. If I close the lid right after the system starts, it goes to sleep normally. But after a while I'm using it, it just hangs as I describer above.

I have installed all Windows updates, updated BIOS firmware (currently A13), video drivers (Intel 10.18.15.4240, NVidia 355.82), updated chipset driver from the Dell Product Support site. Nothing helps.

Please note that I have modificated hardware: I have installed Crucial M4 128GB instead of stock HDD. But I don't think that this is a problem.
