Just had it popup that I have illegal windows product.
Just tried to put in my product code (still in wrapper, everything came installed) and it won't take the product key.
Any suggestions???

XPS 13 9343 - no way to configure touchpad?
I have just moved on to XPS 13 9343 from a 9333 machine and noticed that, unlike the old one, the new one hasn't got a gui touchpad interface to configure taps and gestures. Is there a way to do so? Both laptops are run under Win10.
(Confusingly, Microsoft provided hardware drivers all carry the same version number 10.0.10240.16384 - which, I gather, is Win10 RTM - but are dated 21/06/2006 - which would put them in the Win XP era!)

Administrative User problems
It does not recognize me as Administrative user. I have the password, it has not changed. Again I am the Administrator but when I try to upgrade anything the system is not recognizing me as so. one upgrade is windows 8 to 8.1. In the user accounts it shows me as Administrator. I even tried to change to standard so I could switch back to administrator and see if that would work and it will not even let me go to standard. It stays as Administrator.

Inspiron 17 N7010 CPU upgrade
I have Inspiron 17 N7010 that I want to upgrade the processor. I currently have a i5 520m than I upgraded earlier form the original Pentium p6100. I want to upgrade again to an i7 processor such as the 620m or the 640m. Can this be done? Both are Arendale cores, socket G!, and running a 35w. The only difference is the L3 cache size (3mb to 4mb) and cpu frequency (2.4ghz to 2.8ghz). Also, I know Dell doesn't support cpu upgrades. Thanks

PC3-10600 and 12800 Compatibility
I have a Dell e6520 laptop. It has a 4gb stick of PC3-10600 of RAM. I have access to a 2gb stick of PC3-10600 and a 4gb stick of PC3-12800.
I would prefer to use the 4GB stick unless mixing RAM speeds will cause problems.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Dell XPS 13 (9343) backlit keyboard timeout on Windows 10
Hi,
Is there a way to change the timeout settings for the backlit keyboard of a Dell XPS 13 (9343) running on Windows 10?
Preferably, I'd like for the backlit keyboard to remain on all the time and not turn off after half a minute or so.

Dell Inspiron i5548 1670SLV Extreme Heating issue - The heating area is exactly Lower right side corner, above Intel logo
Hi Community Team,
I purchased Dell Inspiron i5548 1670SLV from microsoftstore. The laptop is heating with in 15 minutes from power on. It is getting extreme heat even laptop is ideal condition.
The heating point is exactly Lower right side corner, above Intel logo. I am not able to hold hand on laptop to type anything.
I request community to give me solution for the problem.

Dell N5110 Fan Issue
Hi
My laptop Dell Inspiron N 5110 with Service Tag 53HXFP1 is over heating. Its fan is not running at all (I can see it stopped all the time). I recently updated its Bios to A11 downloading through Dell website. I ran the diagnostics at F12 and found the following error message relating to fan.
Error Code 2000-0511
Validation 12823
Msg: Fan - The(ProcessorFan) fan failed to respond correctly
I am using windows 7. Please help me in this regard. Do I need to replace the fan or it is due to some other reason?

Dell Inspiron 15 5558 keyboard and touchpad not working correctly
I've been having an issue with both my keyboard and touchpad. When I am typing, I'll suddenly skip back to a previous line. Also, my mousepad isn't very sensitive at all. There are times where the cursor won't move no matter what I do.

Reinstalling windows 7 on my Dell Precision M4600 workstation laptop
Hi I have a question. My laptop is starting to get really sluggish, and I'd like to wipe everything clean and start fresh with my hard drive. On the R drive, the recovery folder is empty, and the Dell folder has the .wim image in it. Can I reinstall windows from this image? Or do I have to use this image to create a DVD or USB image to reinstall windows. I'm pretty sure that this laptop didn't come with a windows disk. I was told by someone that I could do this from the R drive, but I'm not sure how I can with this .wim file.

Hard drive replacement for an Old Inspiron 1100
I have an old Inspiron 1100 laptop with a little 20gig Hard drive. I want to put a bigger drive in it and use it for games for the 2 & 4 yr old grandkids. Does anyone know what size and kind of drive I could get for this laptop.
It still runs XP but I do not have it connected to the internet.

i got a dell inspiron N1050 2010 and earlier model i installed windows 10 in it but its charging function now says plugged in not charging
i have tried
1. upgrading my bios
2. changing back to windows 7
3.replacing battery an adapter

What are SATA-4 and 5 on my Latitude E6530 used for?
In the BIOS I see options to enable/disable four SATA controllers. From experiment (disabling them in turn to see what happens) I've found that SATA-0 is the hard disk and SATA-1 is the DVD. However I can't work out what SATA-4 and SATA-5 do. I would guess that one of them connects to the eSATA port, but what does the other do?

BSOD after clean install of Windows 7

I'm using Dell Inspiron 5110 with Windows 7 Home basic. After replacement of the hard drive, I installed Windows 7 Home basic recovery cd. But after the completion of the installation, a BSOD is throwing at the time of boot. Occurs only when installing Windows 7.

Dell Inspiron N5050 CD ROM Issue - Device boot fails
Hi,
My Dell Inspiron N5050 laptop fails while booting. After i enter my user credentials, it shows System crash notification and again tries to restart.
I ran diagnostics on BIOS and CD ROM test failed OP test with 2000-0147 48328 error code.
Two questions :
1 : Does this mean CD ROM has crashed and needs replacement ? Any workaround ?
2 : Can i disable CD ROM through BIOS until i buy a new one ?
3 : How can i set IRQ setting of CD ROM to null from BIOS , i do not see any such option.
Appreciate your assistance
