Laptop for my mother: Inspiron 15 3000 Series Laptop

I want to buy a laptop for my mother, so she will be able to check and send emails and talk by Skype to their sons and daughters out of the country. Will the Inspiron 15 3000 Series Laptop be a good selection for this use?
