I purchased a laptob on 01/11/2015 at Office Depot. I recently ran into a problem with the computer where the screen size zoomed in and was unable to get anywhere to fix. I called Dell support where I reached an agent in India. The call first started in the Hardware department and later transferred to the Software department. After several attempts, the agent was able to set the system in Safemode. At this point the agent informed me that the computer did not have software warranty and it would cost me $139.99 and they would take care of the problem by end of the call. What??????
I was later transferred to a manager. As far as I recall, I didn't purchase the computer by itself and the software separately. It was never spoken about in the store that the warranty only covers hardware and not the software it came with. After paying almost $600.00, there is no way I will pay $139.99 to repair a software that came damaged. I try calling all the 800 numbers and wind up on the other side of the world. Has anyone else encountered this same problem????/
My name is Beatriz Sosa
I know this is a forum to post and wouldn't want to provide any additional information, but I would like to speak with a US agent to discuss this further. I would like to confirm the warranty of this product and the extra charges Dell is requesting to correct a warranty problem.
