There’s no match for that Service Tag

Hello All,

Hope someone can help.

When I go to   the Dell support page and have it search for my service tag it finds the tag correctly that matches the sticker on the dell inspiron 1764 i am using. The it tells me

"There's no match for that Service Tag, Express Service code, or Serial Number. Please try again or browse for your product. New devices may need 48 hours to register on our site."

The laptop is several years old so being new is not the issue. Anyone know how i can resolve this?

Thanks,

-John

Dell Latitude E5470: windows pointer on the black screen

$

Hello to all,

I have a problem. I'm not sure it's a hardware problem but I found it on 40 new and just opened Dell E5470 (the model with finger sensor). The problem is on Windows 7 PRO. The Dell support team is not helping me even if I have bought the "professional support". I also called Microsoft support team and they replied me to call the Dell Support because the software problem...The Dell support told me to call Microsoft support because the harware problem...

The problem is the black screen with windows pointer; please take note that it is no blank screen: BLACK SCREEN and the cursors is the windows graphic pointer, no character cursor. I made many tests: factory restore, restore from the Dell ISO image downloaded from dell website. I didn't found a solution because even if I recovery or even if I restore, the problem reappears. When it appears, I can only do the configuration recovery; instead the safe start and all other ways after F8 don't work. I can only do, I repeat, the configuration recovery or factory image recovery. When the PC starts, I see the windows logo and after a while I see the black screen with the windows pointer and nothing else (and the login screen doesn't appear).

I work in a big company and all PCs & notebooks that we bought are Windows 7 PRO pre-installed (We cannot install windows 10 and other O.S.). When I install the notebook (please take note that I usually install hundreds of notebooks in the same way...); I confirm the language and the region (italian and Italy); I made an user "User" and after the login I disable the automatic updates and the power saver. I put the machine-name in our domain with the unique machine-name, I set the local administrator rights for the domain user the will use the PC and stop. After 2-3 hours if I reboot the notebook I'll see the windows screen "configuring windows features, xx% complete, do not turn off the computer" and after the reboot the black screen appears. The problem appears only after the windows feature screen notice... The last system recovery point set shows "language pack removal" and it is the same in all notebooks...I tried to unistall Dell's software, setup the BIOS, and many other actions that is too long to explain. Believe me: we tried many and many solutions without any results (I also tried to install the notebook without the domain but the problem appears).

Thanks to everybody. I hope to have explained in the right way and in the right forum.

XPS13 (L321) wifi problem

My XPS 13 (L321 model, about three and a half years old) has recently developed an irritating problem whereby when booted up it won't connect to my wifi router (if I try t manually connect it I get a 'cannot connect to this network error). This now happens every time it's powered on, but if I then reboot it, it connects fine without any problems. My work laptop (a Latitude) also has no problems connecting to the router.

Has anyone else come across this issue? I've tried the obvious - downloading the latest driver from both the Dell and the Intel site and trying that, but it's made no difference to the issue.

OS is Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

I need to replace the wifi antennas on my XPS13. The antennas have been damaged by the hinge and broken. I can see where they go into the channel below the screen, but where to from there ?

Also has anyone got the part number for the antenna and where to get them from ?

Inspiron 15 3521 battery light flicker

Whenever I start up my laptop, I get this looping flicker on the battery light (it goes white,no light,to red) and a black screen shows with the text "WARNING: The battery cannot be identified. The system will be unable to charge this battery" I press F1 to continue and login. When I'm logged in I look at the battery icon and click it and says nothing about a battery not being detected and says 100% fully charged I removed my battery charger and my computer died. I started it back up with the battery charger, it still said the same thing and I continued onto logging in. I thought if I upgraded my BIOS to A17 it would resolve the issue but it didn't and I still get the looping flicker. Is there any way to fix the looping flicker and to not get the warning?

Alienware M14x R1 Broken Left Hinge

Hello,

I know this has been addressed and I have read Dell's "solution", which is no solution at all.

Everything I've read about this elsewhere dates back to 2013, so I was wondering if Dell now has an actual solution to their customers' broken left hinge on their $2000+ Alienware M14x R1/R2.

Mine broke yesterday and I won't close it because the machine still works perfectly aside from the hinge.

I know their policy is to not fix it because it's conveniently not covered by any of their warranties, but it's an obvious manufacturing defect (always the left hinge, usually after about a year) that should be addressed properly. Even their own techs admit it's a manufacturing defect.

I was lucky because my lappy is 4 years old, but others have had it much worse. I take good care of it, NEVER opened it more that 120 degrees. This thing is my second child, it still works great and I do not want to replace it. Obviously it's not on a warranty anymore.

I was thinking of buying another one though for my wife, but having read how little Dell actually cares for their customers with this particular issue, not going to until it is solved.

I'm actually thinking of contacting a legal representative and get all of us customers with a broken hinge together for legal action against Dell.

Would that get things moving?

Upgrade of OS to WIN 10 from WIN 7 on a new machine with Dell upgrade disk.

After using the disk to do the upgrade, the unit is in the Getting Ready position for many minutes and nothing is happening.  It went through the update process and seems to be doing nothing

What should I do??

Cursor scrolls on its own across desktop and you cannot control it

Dell 15 XPS 9550, Windows 10 64 Bit. I started having issues immediately around controlling the cursor of the trackpad (precision). On boot the cursor is impossible to control. It floats across the desktop and makes random movement. I tap on the trackpad, try to get control of it but it doesn't respond. If I then open an app, or webpage by using keyboard and get the cursor onto the app or webpage I seem to get more control, but on the desktop it's just impossible to scroll or select anything. This makes it almost impossible to work, it's annoying and distracting, and recently, become worse. I've updated BIOS, chipsets, ran diagnostics, everything that I can and still the issue is not resolved. This is an expensive machine, and now the second Dell Laptop that I've had problems with. I hope Dell addresses this.

Dell Latitude E7450 No POST

I have a Dell Latitude E7450 that will not boot up. The power light turns on solid white and nothing else happens. The LCD doesn't appear to turn on, no diagnostic lights, no beep codes, nothing.

I tried to boot into the Dell PSA by pressing down the Fn Key + Power button, but it does not boot to it. In this case, the white battery charge light blinks at a steady interval, but nothing else happens.

I was, however, successfully able to boot to the LCD test by pressing D + Power button. It goes through all the different colors, then reboots to the same situation which I just outlined - power button on, nothing else happens.

I tried switching RAM, unplugging CMOS battery, draining all power from the system, etc. and nothing has been able to get this unit to actually post. Any ideas?

Thank you!

SOLVED! laptop dell (Inspiron 11-3000 series) keyboard stopped working

Hey all,

Before begining to explain how it got fixed it, please get to know what was wrong first. Here's the text of the original blog I posted months ago:

Dear all,

These (MJU7NHY6) keys in my laptop dell (Inspiron 11-3000 series) keyboard stopped working this May 13. They wouldn’t function unless pressed so hard.

The onscreen keyboard is working fine. I updated the keyboards driver but it didn’t help. I’m sure that no liquid was spilled over the keyboard. Maintenance shops where seem they can’t help. Some said would give it a try but that there’s a chance it may screw up the whole. Please advise what to do. Enclosed is a snapshot of the keys in questions.

I appreciate your advice.

Best

Here's the fix: Please note that I'm not an expert in whatever has to do with laptop and my suggestion here, however crazy it sounds, shouldn't be taken for granted. So, here's how it was fixed. I was carrying my laptop while switched off with the lid closed the other day in hand while heading to my bedroom when the laptop accidentally fell to the ground (some 8-10 feet long). I didn't care much for any physical damage to the laptop; I was already fed up with the idea of having to use a USB keyboard in order to use it. It didn't suffer any damage. Anyway, I switched it on the next day and attached the USB keyboard as usual to work on a Word document.I was removing some some food off some of the keys that had stopped working and I noticed they were working again! I'm  not %100 sure that that fall did cause the malfunctioned keys to work again but I have tried different kind of fixes and none worked. So, be careful when applying my suggestion. I'm so happy it's working again and I hope anyone with the same problem to get theirs fixed.

My dell laptop keeps reseting.

Hello. I would like to know if there are anyways to cure my laptop from a constant reset. To start off, I was trying to do a factory reset. I ran into a message saying theres a problem reseting. (Im sure this was a mistake but) I tried running it again and its stuck around 55%. So I restarted the computer and it gave me a warning. I pressed esc then it's stuck around 55% again. Repeat the process again then I went back to the message problem reseting. I realize I have to install something to bypass it. So I continue and thats where this whole shutting off and on happened. Its gotta be the restarting ive been doing which i feel that ive shouldve done. Safe mode did no good as well as going back to the page where i reset everything from scratch and returning it back to where it was from the beginning. And the only thing works are the f12 option. Did a diagnosis and it saids this PC doesn't have any problems. even though the only problem is the computer reseting itself to the splash screen constantly. Is there other ways of resolving this? Do I have to get another harddrive or another computer? Is there any way to recover system bios or run a repair on my computer? Can you redo everything and restart from the very beginning from here? I really do need help. this is vey important.

overheated battery

Hi,
I have got a xps 15 9550, bought one month ago. my problem is the overheating of battery without reason. just turned it on (whit o whitout CA) the battery overheats immediately and only the battery: others hardware components have correct temps. The diagnostic (F12) is ok and the BIOS (F2) describes the battery status in perfect condition.  Apparently there is not an hardware problem. the support suggested me as first one the downgrade of BIOS and OS, but nothing is improved, then they adviced to unplug the battery and the overhealting has terminated. thus i have changed the battery; but with the new one the problem worsened. Now always the battery overheats just I turn on the laptop, but the overhealting persist with unplugged battery. it's incredible. the italian support think that there is a motherhead problem and they want to change it. any alternative suggestions for the source of the problem?
Thanks
Salvatore

Hi, my Dell Inspiron 15 7537 had to ahve a hard drive replacement and it seems that whenever I try to start it up now it will just say No boot device found please press any key to restart and when I do I spam f2 thinking it will take me to the bios menu but it seems to just run me in circles. it wont load setup or boot menu yet when I plugged in the charger it seemed to setup a new menu which let me know I should plug in a 90W charging cable and to press f2 to go to setup but when I restarted I accidentally pressed f3 which stopped the message from showing and now I am back to the infinite loop of not being able to enter setup. Any ideas? Also, the thing is when I hold down the power button it loops from going on and off. Also the hard drive is totally empty. I bought it brand new so there is nothing on it. The old one's inner disc stopped spinning when I dropped the laptop because a strap on my bag gave our. Overall the rest of the laptop works as It should of my knowing.

Several Problems with Brand New Dell Inspirion 15 7559

$

So I purchased this Dell Inspirion 15 7559 at a Microsoft store (with discount) and I'm already having a bunch of problems with this brand new laptop. Was really hoping to find a decent replacement for my Lenovo Y400 but I must say by now that I'm disappointed and even a little desperate. But thanks anyways for anyone who came by.

Specs: Dell Inspirion 7559 Signature Edition, Windows 10 64-bit, i7-6700 HQ, GTX960M

Problems I'm having so far:

 - Lag in almost every windows animation: Especially when entering Task View or minimizing/maximizing. (Please don't tell me to fix it by turn off the windows animation...I don't wanna solve the problem by skip it)

 - Severe touchpad lag (occasional): About a full second of touchpad lag, but no problem when using the touch screen or a mouse.

 - Slight mouse lag: About 20-30 fps mouse movement, I guess this can be included in the windows animation lag?

I've installed the newest NVIDIA graphic card driver, finished all the windows updates and updated the BIOS from Dell's website but not even one problem is solved. Someone please help..

Upgrading FHD screen to 4K

I recently purchased a Dell Precision 7510 with a Xeon E3-1545, AMD FirePro W5170M, and a FHD IPS screen. I wondered if it were possible to upgrade the screen to a 4K, or is there some reason the display could not be upgraded if the original laptop came with a regular FHD?
