Hello,
I know this has been addressed and I have read Dell's "solution", which is no solution at all.
Everything I've read about this elsewhere dates back to 2013, so I was wondering if Dell now has an actual solution to their customers' broken left hinge on their $2000+ Alienware M14x R1/R2.
Mine broke yesterday and I won't close it because the machine still works perfectly aside from the hinge.
I know their policy is to not fix it because it's conveniently not covered by any of their warranties, but it's an obvious manufacturing defect (always the left hinge, usually after about a year) that should be addressed properly. Even their own techs admit it's a manufacturing defect.
I was lucky because my lappy is 4 years old, but others have had it much worse. I take good care of it, NEVER opened it more that 120 degrees. This thing is my second child, it still works great and I do not want to replace it. Obviously it's not on a warranty anymore.
I was thinking of buying another one though for my wife, but having read how little Dell actually cares for their customers with this particular issue, not going to until it is solved.
I'm actually thinking of contacting a legal representative and get all of us customers with a broken hinge together for legal action against Dell.
Would that get things moving?
