Hi,
I'm trying to configure a new Precision 17 7000 laptop using the wizard on the (dutch) Dell website. Some of the options that I can choose from are not clear to me and the 'help' button in the wizard doesn't really help (and neither did google..). Hopefully someone here can enlighten me on the differences between the options presented and the meaning of some abbreviations.
The wizard asks me to choose from three options in the secion 'base options'. The options are (translated from dutch):
i7-6820HQ, no smartcard reader, without type C, foot, Mobile Precision 7710
i7-6820HQ, only smartcardreader, foot, Mobile Precision 7710
i7-6820HQ, only smartcardreader, with type C, foot, Mobile Precision 7710
I tried to contact Dell and ended up talking to a 'Dell partner'. The guy I talked to suggested this had something to do with a docking station. If it does, then what has a 'smartcard reader' and a 'type C' (which is a type of USB connector, right?) has to do with it? And what does 'foot' refer to?
Continuing with the wizard I have to pick a harddisk. I'd like to have a SSD as my primary disk and I see the following options:
512 GB M.2 PCIe Solid State-harddisk, MPWS
512 GB M.2 PCIe powerfull Solid State-harddisk
What does 'MPWS' mean?
Does anyone have an idea about the real difference between a SSD and a 'powerfull SSD' ?
Finally, when choosing a second harddrive, I'd like to pick one of the following two:
Extra 1 TB 2,5 inch SATA-harddisk(7.200 rpm)
Extra 2 TB SATA HDD (5.400 rpm),MPWS
They're about the same price, and I'm leaning towards the larger 5400 rpm drive. But how is the performance difference between those two? Can I find a comparison, or at least some info on f.e. IOPS of these disks somewhere?
Thanks,
