XPS 15 9350 hard disk not found

$

I booted up my computer this morning and it told me there was no internal hard disk found. So I ran the ePSA tests and it says everything is working properly including the hard drive. So then I went to the BIOS and I can't tell if everything is OK there, it says there is no fixed HDD but underneath that it says there is a msata device which shows the 512 GB hard drive. I'm at a loss I have no idea why this happened or how to fix it. Please help!

Anyone that can give me the algorithm unlock code I would greatly appreciate it.   Unfortunately the Dell Latitude e6420 does not generate a code after 3 wrong tries but rather  prompts you to restart and try again.

Thanks in advance

Dell Inspiron 15 3542 bios firmware update problem windows 10

Hi all,

I have a problem with the wifi of Dell inspiron 15 3542. I updated it from win 7 to win 10 and the wifi keeps connecting and disconnecting until it can't find any wifi network.

I decided to update the firmware of the bios.

The bios firmware was in ver A01 and the latest is A10. I couldn't update fro 01 to 10 and it kept saying unsupported system.

So i tried to take it step by step. I wanted to update from 01 to 02 to 03.....10, but i did a mistake and i updated from 01 to driver 3443A02 and not 3442A02. Now i want to restore previous versions of bios firmware but i can't find a way.

What should i do?

thank you

Hi,

First time poster.

I have been reading up on the razer core, and other thunderbolt 3 external gpu cases. Does the latest version of the XPS 13 with an updated bios support external graphics over thunderbolt 3?

Hi,

I want to replace my thermal pads for my l502x laptop. The RED one in the photo is the one which is broken and I need to replace it. But I don't know exactly which is the thickness needed (0.5mm, 1mm or 1.5mm). I've searched on the service manual and there is no information about it.

Also, I don't know which is the diference between the thermal pads marked as RED and the ones marked as GREEN

Thanks

New XPS 15 Wifi briefly disconnects at login causing Group Policy to not completely run

$

We have two of the new XPS 15 laptops.  These do not have any Ethernet ports on them so to get them setup on our domain I have to export our CA generated trusted root certificate from my desktop to a USB drive, and then import it to the local computers enterprise root trusted certificates store.  Once the certificate is installed we can join our hidden Enterprise WPA2 wifi network.  I enter my domain credentials and it authenticates.  Now with network access I can go rename the machine and join it to the domain.

Normally on other laptops such as the Latitude series, I have it just connected via Ethernet cable, so I can just join the domain and the domain policy auto-enrollment will grab whatever certs it needs / establish that trust relationship and on reboot the enterprise wifi group policy will populate the wifi settings.  Not so much with the XPS 15, though I did order some USB Ethernet adapters because maybe that will make this "priming" process more successful.

The issue I have is that once rebooted the wifi is connected and I log in, but while it logs in the wifi disconnects for a bit and then reconnects.  It appears as if your on the network, but none of our software deployments via Group Policy get installed.  Event log shows that it can't find the path to these GPO's or the domain is not reachable.  However I can ping and open those very same GPO paths referenced to as "not available" in the event viewer.  I do a continuous ping of the laptop as it logs in and sure enough during the login process the wifi is disconnected for a few seconds.  Its not long but I guess its long enough where some basic group policy stuff does not apply.  Other group policy applies via gpupdate /force, or waiting the group policy update interval, but we know that software installation via group policy will never deploy unless it is run at the very beginning of the login process.

When customizing the XPS 15 there were no options to opt for an Intel Wifi card.  We only use Intel Wifi cards because we've had bad experiences with other brands.  This seems to be a Dell branded (I guess broadcom card), so do you know of any driver updates or driver tweaks we could use?  We already have both local policy and group policy settings configured to always wait for the network at login, and delay processing of group policy for 60 seconds.  These two settings help the vast majority of other posters out there with this issue, however its not helping with these XPS 15's.  They are running Windows 10 pro.  I cannot "forget" the wifi network because group policy put it there so forget this network is grayed out... or else I'd try to eliminate it and re-add it.  Once my USB to network adapters arrive I may try dis-joining it from the domain and rejoining it via the wired usb 3.0 network adapter.

I think it was real short sighted to not build Ethernet jacks in here or not allow the user to customize the XPS 15 with an Intel wifi card.

Dell Inspiron 3542 - TouchPad freezes after waking up computer from hibernation

Hi guys! Please help me with issue - TouchPad program (SynTPEnh) in my Dell Inspiron 3542 freezes after waking up computer from hibernation. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Problem doesn't appear if I make a restart or just turn on computer (not hibernated). It happens only if my laptop were hibernated. Unfortunately, I hibernate computer very often and would like to do it.

If anyone asks - if program SynTPEnh is freezed I can still use TouchPad, but cursor is very slow (I set speed of the cursor for full because it's comfortable for me).

Tried to install drivers (Dell TouchPad  19.0.9.4) again. Anyone cope with such problem?

How to make SynTPEnh usable after hibernation?

Thanks in advance. :-)

Out of the blue I cannot connect to my local (business) network anymore. Tried to connect to my home network via WiFi as well but no-go.

What did I do so far?

Ran Windows Network Diagnostics and problem seems to be:

- One or more network protocols are missing on this PC.

- Problem w/wireless adapter or access point.

Installed Windows 10 a while ago.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Inspiron 3452 - Can't install Windows on 32GB eMMC

After finding out that my laptop was out of space in less than a day I decided to make a clean installation of Windows 7 to save as much space as possible. I boot up from a USB Flash that had Windows 7 but I stuck at the menu where you have to choose the partition for the installation. I've tried every possible way, I even deleted and created a new partition, formatted it but nothing. The message I get is "we couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one". I've tried every way I could find like creating a partition from cmd but I still get the same message. Any help would be appreciated! How to install Windows 7 or 10 to this "half" laptop.

PS: It's the 32GB eMMc version that doesn't have a connector for a standard HDD.

Electric Shock - Laptop Dell Inspiron 15-5547

Hi,

One of my friend used my laptop and get an electric shock on the keyboard of my laptop Dell Inspiron 15-5547. Since then, my keyboard doesn't really work. If I press all the keys and many times, sometime, it will work (letter will appear on the screen) but most of the time I'm unable to type. At first, I thought the problem was the keyboard, so I changed it for a new one. But I do have the same problem I had with the other one (unable to type). If I plug a wire keyboard on my laptop in a USB port, I can type. Everything work fine. So if the problem isn't the keyboard, what it is? Anyone have an idea what could be the problem and what I could do the solve it?

Thank you,

Alexandre

Insprion 7720 Ports not working

$

Hello,

I have a inspiron 7720 notebook. The screen got stepped on one day and the display is awful. Dell wanted a insane price to fix it so i decided i would just buy a monitor couple months down the road. Everything was working fine other than the screen, One day i booted up and tried to plug in my mouse.. i noticed that all the usb ports quit working. Power will go through and illuminate the mouse but its not usable if that makes since.

Then i tried to plug hdmi into the tv. it worked for couple minutes then screen went black on tv now none of the ports on the pc work except the battery charger. I was wondering if there are any recommended fixes for this before i scrap the laptop since its still a decent laptop i would hate to trash it over something fixable without paying half what i paid for the laptop >.<

So far iv uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them, even disabled them all and enabled them back and nothing. Iv reset the memory, the HD, and cleaned out with air duster. Last option is to wipe the pc completely? Seems more hardware than software but i dont want to throw it away until iv exhausted every last option.

I could buy a bluetooth mouse, but then i would still have no way to get my screen onto a monitor if my HDMI port doesnt work either.

Thanks for your time,

Brent

8 gigs of ram latitude d630c

is it possible? I know it is with the d630 with any bios after a16, but the d630c only goes up to a11. I've looked around and found compatible ram ranging anywhere from $140-180, but I would rather have an understanding of the technical challenges, or even the actual possibility, before shelling out that much cash. would it be far more efficient to just get a used d630 and then upgrade the ram, or is the d630c sufficient?
