I recently got a Latitude xt with a Windows 7 Hard drive, and was wanting to turn it into a gaming laptop by downloading some roms / emulators. Now i know this was a mistake, I had no antivirus software downloaded (Proceed to mock me) but i have now been experiencing startup problems and I always have to perform a warm boot and run diagnostics. The results for these are "Media test failure check cables." Although... all of my media is fine. I would like to know if there is a way to manually reset my computer back to complete factory settings, thus making it back to its original state, So i can sell it and get a better laptop. The most frustrating part about this is that my laptop resets without even putting much strain on it. In fact as i was typing this article it reset, even though my computer didn't even show signs of slowing down. During the reset, i have to take out the battery because i will run diagnostics, ten it will reset again. every time the same message shows up Read Failure on internal hard drive. press F1 to retry Press F5 to run diagnostics. After i take out the battery and wait, it states the same thing. over and over and i'm forced to run diagnostics.I would like to know if there is a way to manually reset my computer back to complete factory settings, thus making it back to its original state, So i can sell it and get a better laptop. I know its not going to sell for much if i don't fix this.
