Dell Studio not booting up

My Dell Studio was working fine the other day, but now whenever I switch it on it will not get past the 'Starting Windows' message.

Yesterday it was on AC power, since for some reason it doesnt charge, and the charger came out so it switched off. I switched it on and it was fine, just really slow. I thought this was just my internet being an ***. The AC charger came out again, and when I tried to switch it on, it wont get past the Starting Windows message. I unplugged the AC and switched it on and left it on Launcher Repair startup whilst I slept. I woke up late at night to check on it and It had gone back to the message that comes up when I switch it on, which reads 'The AC adapter type can not be determined. This may prevent optical performance.' so I tapped on F1 as usual, and the Starting Windows message comes up, and I slept again. When I woke up again, the same thing happened. I checked the BIOS startup menu and it seemed fine, so I tried to start it on Safe Mode, but it got stuck on one of the drives ('Windows: system32/drivers/CLASSPNP.sys I think) and it would get passed that. I switched it on and    left it on Launcher Repair and left for work. When I came back the AC message was on again, meaning it had tried to boot up again whilst I was gone. I started it whilst pressing on Fn, and it started beeping and said gave me the error number 1046. I've googled it but nothing came up

I would really like to keep this laptop, I cant afford another one and this ones pretty dear to me, even though the graphics card is wrecked. I've had it for about 8 years. Ive had another problem like this whilst I was running on Windows Vista a couple of years back ( I'm running Windows 7 now), and I had to get a new software (the 7 I'm currently running). Will I just have to get a new software or is this reparable?
