Hello,
Last year late July I had purchased an Alienware 17 with a GTX 860m. Over the course of then to now I have had minor issues with regards to RAID setup and small driver issues but overall things that have been relatively easily fixed with a small amount of knowledge with computers. I however have had a consistent issue recently for the past month or so where my laptop was overheating quite badly and when I used RealTemp to monitor my temperature it was saying my processor for running just CSGO on lowest graphics was hitting about 80 degrees. I found out it was due to dust build up which is fine so I cleaned that and then I checked my GPU fan to clean it as well to find out there was absolutely no dust in the fan at all. I have done a series of tests and diagnostics from Dell and others to try and find out if I could manually activate this fan and have had no success. A few people on dell's forums have mentioned that sometimes the thermal paste was not put on correctly which astonishes me because of how simple it is to do so I doubt that's the issue. I then checked another program Hwinfo64 to monitor my GPU temp and again on CSGO lowest graphics i was averaging 88-91 degrees on my GPU. If anyone has any ideas or insight to perhaps lead me to the answer as why it could not be functional that would be much appreciated. Sorry for the long post.
