Dell 1457 screen brightness too low, able to see it but very dimmed,

Dell 1457  broken screen, replaced and the screen is to dark hard to see, have tried to increase the brightness but it doesn't do anything, it's an LCD screen model LTN140AT02 , not sure what else to do,? any help would greatly appreciated.
