Inspiron 3521 Touchscreen Laptop - Touchscreen quit working just after warranty expiration

I believe this to be either a loose connection or a software based issue.  This laptop was bought for the touchscreen capability.  I used the touchscreen which worked properly for about 1 year.  I noticed recently that the touchscreen was not working anymore.  I have searched multiple times for a fix to this issue.  I have been directed to Dell Diagnostics for the laptop multiple times, which I start and it gets to "installing support assist client" and then comes up with an error stating "there is a problem with your internet connection".  I have multiple systems on the internet and there are no internet issues, except with the laptop running this one diagnostic.  I have also viewed the System screen which states "No Pen or Touch Input is available for this display".

Before I am asked if I am sure that I got the version with touchscreen, I refer you back to my first paragraph - "I used the touchscreen which worked properly for about 1 year".  I am becoming very frustrated with this issue.  Today, I attempted a system restore to find that the only restore point is for earlier today.  I did make a recovery set for this computer and if necessary, I will do a full restore.  What I am curious about is this...is it possible that there is a loose cable connection?  I was previously a certified Dell Technician and have no issue with taking the laptop apart if it would fix the touchscreen issues.

I have seen multiple posts about issues with the touchscreen not working after previously working.  The fixes that have been listed such as removing drivers, updating drivers, calibrating, etc. do not work.  I have replaced, removed, and updated drivers.  Calibrating isn't possible if the laptop doesn't even see the ability for touchscreen.  If the display is bad, I may be open to replacing it, or probably replacing the whole laptop with another touchscreen (Not a Dell!).

I am desperately looking for any knowledgeable help.

Robert
