My Dell XPS 13 Laptop's motherboard died 3 months after the end of the extended warranty period. I had Dell replace the motherboard out of warranty and 6 months later I'm having the exact same issue, the computer sometimes will not power up and when it does it shuts down suddenly on its own or the mouse will not work.
I contacted customer support and after being on hold for nearly an hour. I was hung up on while trying to explain my issue. When I called back and spoke to a supervisor he informed me that the previous repair work was only guaranteed for 3 months and replacing the motherboard would be at my expense.
This is unacceptable. I fully understand what a warranty is, but my expectation is that Dell builds quality products. I've owned this laptop for two years and it is one of their higher end machines and it should last longer than it has and their parts should have better build quality.
I'm considering writing the ***, because I'm beyond frustrated!
