Re: My XPS 14 not booting up

Hi Roshan,

Thanks for the prompt reply and suggestion.

I tried it out and below are the details:

====================================================================

Pressed F12 - I didn't see the option "Diagnostics" so I ran the PSA+ (Pre-boot System Assessment build 4127)

It ran test on all hardwares and most of these passed

but the test for - Hard Drive - DST Short Test

it always displayed the Result status as - Running

While it kept going through other tests like -

Memory Test -> WCMch, WCMATS, Data bus stress test, Ground Bounce Test, Walking 1s and 0s etc. etc

Also it showed horizontal and vertical colored stripes for display.

All these test result were passed, but in between it kept displaying the - "Hard Drive - DST Short Test" with result status as running. And then suddenly it turned off.

I tried the same process again and same thing happened, though next time it turned off even earlier and again "Hard Drive - DST Short Test" with result status as running.

I also noticed that it laptop became too hot all across keyboard and bottom. Generally it became hot from the fan side.

=======================================================================

Once it cools down, i tried turning it on normally and it displayed below message after the Dell logo screen like I mentioned initially (this time I noted down the exact message):

Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Series V 2.35 (06/14/10)

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable

PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM

Reboot and select proper Boot device Or Insert Boot media in selected Boot device and press a key

Please help!

Thanks,

Girish.
