Hello, I hope someone can help please. I got my XPS 15 service tag
<ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>
in March 2013.
Unfortunately, not long after it arrived I became ill and didn't really use it, preferring my desk top instead. I did use it only very occasionally until the start of this year when I had a project I needed to use it for. The computer had several updates to catch up on and after updating started to become less stable until it stopped really working at all. It didn't get by POST most of the time.
After contacting Dell I paid over £200 (as it was out of warranty) to have the on-line engineer chats, which did not remedy the issues, and to have it picked up and a cable replaced. This was in March. By the middle of June the computer was in the showing the same signs as before (not getting past POST). This time Dell uplifted it and replaced the hard-drive free of charge.
The computer seemed to be fine after upgrading to Windows 10 but I had no Bluetooth, so one of the Dell technicians sent me a link to get all the drivers and updates to solve my issue. I downloaded and installed all the updates and drivers via the link. After downloading and installing the recommended Dell BIOS update my computer returned to the same state as before.
After contacting Dell about this they have stated the problem is that I now need a new motherboard for £600. My computer cost £1,107.50 and I have already spent over £200 trying to remedy the situation and I seriously don't have £600 to get a new motherboard.
I don't understand how the same symptoms can be attributed to a different part of the computer by the engineers each time. Surely the past diagnostics have been wrong and I have been given a link from a Dell technician that has scuppered my machine once more.
Please help!
