i bought a new inspiron 15 5000 series laptop , and i have installed windows 7 on it , because i have certain programs that only operate on windows 7 , the problem is that the USB ports are not functioning due to missing drivers, i tried to look for those drivers on the support page but i couldn't find any specific ones for windows 7.
can any one give me the solution or a link please !
I bought a dell laptop and it doesn't have the power cord with it, and I cant even find anything on the laptop to tell me what model it is. It wont power on and there is not a service tag or express tag sticker on it anywhere. How can I determine what model it is and what power cord I need to buy? Thanks in advance.
the rubber frame across the border of my dell e7440 suddenly decided to warp and i left with the rubber frame hanging out partially on one side of the laptop i tried to fit it back but it has for some reason streched and hence has an over lapping hum when i try to seat it back
has anyone else come across this issue? your input would be greatly appreciated thanks!
After installing Ubuntu 16.04 LTS I was unable to reboot into the newly installed system nor access the one time boot menu from F12 or the BIOS from F2 keys after the DELL logo and bar completed itself and displayed F12 and F2 in the bottom corner of the screen.
I can access the ePSA Pre-boot System Assessment using CTRL Fn held down at boot. I have run it twice, returning no faults. Tapping the F8 key at boot has no effect.

My fn+f3 key combination to disable touchpad had stopped working after reinstall of windows 8.1
I tried to uninstall QuickSet and tried to install it again but it fails to install each time.
Can you point to a link to install QuickSet and get the functionality back.
Mouse Properties shows the dell touchpad but clicking on it doesn't open any app. Think its got to do with Quickset not being available.

Can anyone help me to get out of safe mode? I have tried these method and is still not work: 1. run 'msconfig' there were no check mark in the safe boot box so how can I unchecked? 2. Advance startup->select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart > start window normally.
I am using window 10.

Ubuntu 15.x was working great on my Dell XPS 13. After upgrading to 16.04 it appears the drivers for the Broadcom BCM4352 Wireless Network Adapter are not loaded.
lshw -C network says the network is UNCLAIMED
There are now entries in the modprobe.d blacklisted file for Broadcom.
Any help is appreciated.
p.s. I dual boot to Win10. The network is fine there.
I have a Dell 7737 laptop and some malware put a STARTUP PASSWORD on it.
After I did a restore to factory default setting, it said no boot operating system. I went into the Bios and it say that the HDD is frozen. Please help.
Also, I have order a recovery disk from Dell. Still, I do not know if this could fix my problem.

After updating the from AO2-AO7 the computer will not start properly. It looks good until the screen is just blank and backlit. Is there any way I can get A02 and revert back?
I updated the firmware since the support web page said it was important. The computer came with Win 8.1 and was upgraded to Win 10. The BIOS update was done after the Win 10 install. Now it seems a can of worms has been opened.
Or is there any other options?

I just received my M7710 with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.
I'm having problems with the fingerprint reader from the very start. During fingerprint registration it frequent gave me a message to the effect 'unable to detect fingerprint and to clean the reader'. I eventually tapped the reader enough that it completed the registration process.
Of course the machine is brand new and it's the first time the reader has been touched by me. It looks clean.
When I try to login using the reader, the same general thing occurs. It doesn't recognize my fingerprint even after multiple attempts, and then finally either does or doesn't in the end.
So do I have a faulty reader? Is it a poor device I paid extra for? Am I doing something wrong when registering my fingerprint?
I'm simply putting my index finger on the reader, picking it up and putting it down again.

I just received my M7710 with a 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe High Performance SSD and Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.
My intent is to install two similar 1TB drives myself as the 2nd and 3rd drives (which were options when customizing the system).
I'm looking for complete instructions on how to do this. It seems the Dell online manual is either out of date or hopelessly vague, as it does not mention installation of a 2nd or 3rd drive of any kind (that I can see).
My ability to accomplish this is a make/break proposition and will determine whether I keep this machine or return it.

I brought it to the technician but the only solution they have is to change the motherboard. OK, after less than 2 years its motherboard is already bad. Is that possible? What could be wrong? My old laptop worked for almost 6 years, and this dell ultrabook is just less than 2 years. Too disappointed!!! I spent so much money for nothing.

I have recently experimented flickering in my screen. I purchased this laptop like a month ago.
Acording to some answers in here http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19590879?pi41097=1 , One recommendation is to turn off the Dell extended battery life. But on Windows10 I do not have that option...What i see is Dell Power Manager Lite.
It looks like on direct AC and battery fully charged I do not present the flickering. If I unplugged the AC cable and battery goes lower than 85% I start seeing the annoying flickering.

My Inspiron 7537 takes between :45 seconds to a minute to wake up from sleep. I've updated all drivers and BIOS. Is this a known issue? Any known fixes? Happened with Windows 8.1, and continues with Windows 10.

Brand new Dell Precision 5510 running Windows 7 x64 installed by Dell. All drivers updated including BIOS. Running connected to a Thunderbolt dock.
Firefox browser freezes several times a day.
When you try and shutdown, it can take over 10 minutes, flashes an error message and then reboots you to the ctrl - alt - delete screen. When you restart Windows, it says there was a blue screen error and that it created a mini-dmp file. I don't know how to interpret mini-dmp files. I click on "check for a solution" and it says Windows is checking for a solution and then it just quietly closes that window and gives no solution.
Getting ready to run diagnostics. I see where folks are talking about upgrading the Samsung NVE driver. What is that driver controlling? The ssd hard drive?
When I enter my service tag, it generates 2 recovery images available for download. Whats the difference between the 2 and whats the correct one to use?

I have a Dell Latitude 13 (7350) and bought a battery for the keyboard. The battery does not fit because of the counterweight. However I have an additional 7350 (perhaps newer) that has a plastic piece instead of the counterweight that allows the battery to fit. I can't seem to find this part. Any suggestions on resources as I've seemingly combed the earth and have had no luck.
