Hi
Inspiron N5010
When the power adaptor is plugged into the laptop the LED on the adaptor goes out. The machine will not turn on and the battery will not charge (the battery is now flat).
I have purchased a replacement genuine DELL power adaptor and the same thing happens, the LED goes out when it is plugged into the laptop. I believe this is a symptom of an electrical short circuit on the motherboard.
I have opened up the machine and removed the motherboard. I have noticed that there is a daughter-board connected to the main board. This daughter-board has the DC power jack (and other in/out sockets) attached. I have closely inspected the DC jack and cannot see anything wrong.
I have plugged the power adaptor into the daughter-board with it disconnected from the main board and the power LED still goes out suggesting the fault lies on this board and not the main motherboard.
Has anyone had a similar problem and had experience with problems on this separate daughter-board?
