Hey Harish
Thanks very much for getting back to me much appreciated.
I tried what you said and it started to run the diagnostics. However it cut out mid way through the process. I then tried it again and the same problem. I then tried to just start the computer up and when i did this it asked me if i wanted to do a boot analyse but or start normally. I opted for start normally as it normally cuts out if i try the other thing. It then asked if i wanted the disk checking i again refused as it normally cuts out when it does this. Then before the log in menu came up it blue screened saying something about backing up something (sorry to be vague). I then left it 5 minutes and re-booted it and it started up fine. It came up with a message saying unexpected shut down and gave these details.

I have also recently purchased a new ac power charger direct from dell so i don't think that's the problem.
Many thanks Tom
