I apologise for the delay in replying. I've only just managed to get my laptop up and running without the white screen. PC World (Knowhow) have tried countless times to fix this problem and have twice replaced the master board but I will give your suggestion a go just as soon as I can. I will though have to wait a while to see if it does resolve this problem before getting back to you.
