I have a Dell XPS ( L502X ) model. Since last 6 months, I have been getting failed hard drive test notification from Dell Diagnostics. It shows that smart and target read are failing and that hard disk is not reliable to use anymore.
So I have started to think of upgrading the hard disk. I checked with dell customer care, but I am not satisfied with the information. I had two queries, one is if I can upgrade it to 1TB hard disk, I was told I can buy any internal laptop hard disk as long as it is of 5400 RPM. I remember during purchase there was an option for 7200 RPM also, why is that not applicable here?
Second query is if I go for a SSD or a SSHD, will it be possible? I was not that it won't work. I find it hard to believe. Will need help here in this matter.
I would like to go for SSHD if I can take that, else I will go for 1TB HDD. But why won't 7200 RPM work, is there hardware specs different for it to work?
Please let me know what I should do regarding this issue.
