Hi,
So a few months ago, I bought an Inspiron 13 (2-in-1) version. When I brought it home, it immediately had a network issues and could not connect to the internet. I called Dell to ask them to fix the issue. The laptop was nice so I did not want to return it.
After they send it back to me, I start to hear a clicking sound in my fan and the computer began to overheat. At this point, I was getting a little irritated but I thought that I could forgive Dell since they sent in a technician to my house.
After this visit, the computer would have issues of not turning on. So I had to send it in again. At this point I am very worried because I need to make sure that I have a working computer that I do not have to send in all the time. So I demanded that the technicians check all of the hardware components so that nothing else will break. The Dell technical support people agreed.
Ok, so they send it back to me and now I have the same problem of the laptop not turning on. But now I a new issue which is the fact that some of the keys do not work. So I had to call them up again and send it in. I spoke with a manager and he agreed that he will get the technicians to double check all of the hardware. This is a huge pain for me because I just wanted something that works well.
I have never abused my laptop and my 12 year old Inspiron 9300 is still working fine (which is part of the reason why I decided to buy another Dell).
So now I have developed the following assumptions:
1) There may be something wrong with the hardware in the Inspiron 13 (2-in-1) line because Dell told me that their technicians replaced anything that went wrong during the third time I sent it in. But clearly the issue remains
2) The Dell Inspiron line is unreliable
3) Dell's technicians do not do a thorough job of checking everything
I no longer trust the Inspiron 13 (2-in 1) line. With that said. If this laptop comes back and I start to have the same problems with it is and Dell agrees to send me a replacement system, is there any way that I can request a different line of laptop? I've been looking around on their website for a 13 inch laptop with similar specs and I found the Alienware 13. It got good reviews and has pretty much the same hardware except for the graphics card. I figured that Dell would not allow me to switch to a XPS because that is a high end line but maybe the Alienware? I am willing to add 200 dollars for the difference. I just want a computer that works! Any suggestions?
