Hello everyone, my name is Anthony and I own a Dell Laptop Inspiron 17 (5748, Mid 2013).
I am having a very weird problem with my USB ports and I was wondering if anyone is experiencing the same issue or can help me resolve it.
I currently have three USB ports (two 2.0 ports and one 3.0 port), all fully functional upon startup. Any device can be plugged in to any port and it will work fine. However, when I close my laptop lid or let it enter in hibernation mode, both 2.0 USB ports stop working. Nothing pops up on my screen when I connect something to those ports, regardless of it being a mouse, ipod, etc. Only the 3.0 remains functional.
Now I have done everything: virus scan, updated all drivers, reinstalled drivers, ran a diagnostic test specifically for USB ports, and even ran a system diagnostic. Unfortunately, the problem still occurs even though my Dell says everything is fine with all ports.
Like I said before, all USB ports work fine upon startup but lose functionality after laptop enters sleep/hibernation mode. Only the USB 3.0 port remains functional.
Any ideas on why this is occurring? Does anyone else experience this weird glitch?
Thank you for your time reading this post. Any help or recommendation would be much appreciated.
