Hi
I purchased my Alienware 17 in Late November last year. While I encountered some overheating issues, I solved that with a good cooling pad.
However when playing some more graphically demanding games, the laptop has a tendency to suddenly shut down, I assume this indicates a overheating problem. While a complete
shutdown isnt a very common occurrence, the I also experience significant slowdowns during gameplay and notice that the fan on the laptop becomes very loud. These are games that
I thought the laptop would be able to handle without any problems, like Dying Light, Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag and Heroes and Generals.
I recently got Witcher 3 and upon installing and running it I was sad to find that the laptop could barely chug a decent 20-30 fps after the opening so I didn't bother to see
what it would be like in combat.
Is this normal? If not, whats the problem? I hoped that this rig would be able to perform better than this, so I believe this maybe a hardware issue?
My DxDiag log is attached
