hello, i also have the inspiron n5110 with i7 core and 8GB RAM, i love playing games and had the same issue which is discussed here...
i wont start to tell you all i had done to try stopping it ( talked to dell twice which replaced my mb ... ),
however, i fixed the problem by buying a coolingpad which did the trick and no shutting downs anymore. I bought a very cheep one ( TL714) it cost me something like 15$ it has 3 fans which is helping my laptop to stay in a good temp and not over heated when playing.
no shutdowns for me any more :-)
games i played and had laptop crushes - far cry 3, call of duty 4, assassin creed 2+3. they all work great now and stooped to shut down !
