I'm using a hand-me-down Insprion 1000 laptop running Windows XP Home.
I'm having trouble with the mouse pointer "sticking," i.e., it frequently behaves as if I were holding down the left button the way I would do if I wanted to drag and drop something.
This happens frequently and without warning whenever I'm moving the pointer around,. For example, if I'm moving the mouse pointer around in Windows Explorer, I end up inadvertently dragging and dropping files from one folder to another, and sometimes have trouble figuring out which files went into which folders. Very frustrating!
I suspect that the problem may have to do with the sensitivity setting on the touch-pad. I looked in Settings >Control Panel > Mouse, but the touchpad doesn't seep to show up there.
I Googled and came up with a web page that suggests I need to install the proper driver for the touch-pad. But I'm having difficulty finding the correct driver for this computer. The terminology on the download page is too confusing for my tired old brain to process.
(BTW, I have no idea what the following graphic is doing in my message. All I did was try to insert a link to the web page where I found the suggestion to install a touch-pad driver).
