One of my clients returned to me a Dell E5520 because it won't boot. It won't POST at all, and the screen never shows anything.
The lights on the keyboard work, the power button lights up, and the activity/battery lights work. The fan spins up when I push the power button.
I took the RAM out of it and discovered that it doesn't make the beeping noises like it should if there is no RAM.
So I tried swapping in a different processor, but the problem remains.
Now, this computer showed strange symptoms before it got to this point - the screen would become static and unusable and sometimes it would not display. But now it won't boot at all.
I've looked through the notebook FAQ here and here. Something appears to be wrong with the motherboard.
Is there something else I can try before I believe this machine is toast?
