I scanned my system on the Dell site and it was recommended that I do a bios update. I flashed the bios, as per the directions on the site (or rather, let the site do it since I am not really computer savvy), and the laptop runs much better than before except that the fan runs at nearly high speed most of the time. I read somewhere on the net that settings get changed when you upgrade a bios and you need to go into the bios (I think, that's what it was) at start-up and reconfigure that but I'm not sure exactly what had to be done or how to do it, and unfortunately, I didn't bookmark the site and can't find it now. Any suggestions on how to do this? I don't think there is anything wrong with my fan because this problem only started after I flashed the bios. Also, I didn't realize that when I flashed the bios that my anti-virus program (Avast) was running. Does this make a difference or would windows just suspend that while the bios was being flashed? I'm running Win 7. Thanks for any info.
