Inspiron N5040 does not power on (dead) after downloading and update from Dell's website

I was downloading an update from Dell's website when my laptop began making strange sounds and then completely froze. I tried to get out of google chrome or anything I was installing but again the screen froze completely. I then tried to shut my laptop off by pressing the power button but for some reason that didn't work either. After trying that several times I decided to take out the battery from the back and that's when it did turn off. When I placed the battery back and pressed the power button my laptop did not turn on at all. None of the lights (power, battery) were on either. I tried everything to fix it. From pressing the power button for 40seconds without the battery and then placed the battery back in, I also tried turning it on while only using the power chord but that did not work either. Could you please help me? I really hope I didn't completely crash my laptop.

Ps. If this information helps: My laptop touch pad cursor wasn't working properly since last week. My screen jumped from time to time and the cursor froze several times. That is why I thought I could fix the problem by uploading the drivers.
