Hi
Yesterday when I turned on my laptop suddenly there was no reaction when I click on touchpad, no movement, there is even no mouse pointer on the screen. had to plug in an external mouse to try to fix the problem. Followed several other threads, go to PC settings-> PC and devices -> mouse and touchpad and I didn't even have touchpad in there. Tried device manager and there was no touchpad found either. It seems it just disappeared miserably. I thought oh this could be because of the driver, so I go to dell official and they ask me for service tag, I tried to auto detect, it is the ST on the back of my laptop but the web says they can't recognize it. so I type in service code they can't recognize that either. How could that be possible? This model hasn't been released for a year so it's definitely under warranty. I then manually look for the driver for my model and download that, didn't work. tried diagnose using dell tool for hardware, said no problem found. I was pretty fuked up so I recovered the laptop to when it was first bought with erasing all my files just to make sure they get the possible incorrect driver update uninstalled, after a while, the PC was ready. Still no touchpad.
The last thing I want to do is call dell support. I'm in Australia and the service here is fuked up. I can't find the official support centre on google. no phone number found as in the official one. And I can't use online diagnose since my service tag is not recognized.
Anyone having the same problem. Can anyone at least tell me where to go for help in Australia? A phone number can even help.
