Hello Dell community,
I have an XPS M1730 that has stopped working. Literally. When plugging the laptop into the AC adapter, the blue light on the adapter goes out right after having been connected to the laptop. The adapter light turns on after unplugging from the wall and plugging back in, but still dies after being plugged into the computer. This leads me to believe it's a motherboard issue. The laptop won't turn on from battery power (the battery has been dead for years), and no lights come on the laptop at all. I have tried different wall outlets to no avail. I think the computer is trashed at this point, as it was doing some pretty weird things before this, like artifacts covering the screen (this isn't an LCD problem as it had artifacts when connecting to an external display too), and some keys on the keyboard wouldn't work. Shame to get rid of this computer due to the price tag, but if it's done for I guess it'll go to the Good Will. Can you guys steer me in a direction? Also, if it's beyond repair, what could I salvage (I already know the RAM and HDD's)?
