Thanks foryour reply gracebie, I will also try your solution, but I reckon I have isolated the problem.
Anti virus was using too much resources running on the background, and with Windows 8 also using lots of resources, poor laptop was struggling if I also had internet explorer, iTunes and Office all running at the same time....
I was able to stop some apps and processes. And laptop is flying now....
