Re: Overheating Inspiron N5110 with Windows 8

Hi proudbg,

Please try the below mentioned steps:

  1. Access the Control Panel, use the Charms Bar in Desktop Mode, click Control Panel, click System and Security, and then click Power Options.
  2. On the Select a power plan page, click Change plan settings for the plan that you want to change.
  3. On the Change settings for the plan page, click Change advanced power settings.
  4. Scroll down to `Processor Power Management` > `System Cooling Policy` (Expand them both to view the options).
  5. Under `System Cooling Policy` > Change `On Battery` and `Plugged In` to ‘Passive`.
  6. Save the setting and restart the system.
  7. The fans should start functioning normally.

Please reply if the issue persists.
