Hi j_elledge,

You may try to boot the system in ‘Safe Mode’. Please follow the steps below:

  • Restart or Power on the system.
  • Tap <F8> at dell logo until ‘Advanced Boot Options’ appear.
  • Choose ‘Safe Mode’ and hit ‘Enter’.

You can perform ‘System Restore’ in ‘Safe Mode’, if the system is able to boot. To perform system restore, please refer to the link: http://bit.ly/rHCLt.

You may update the system BIOS, please follow the link: http://dell.to/17gxnAV.

Note: Before updating BIOS please ensure that:
*Battery is 10%> or >10% charged
*Battery charger should be connected
*No external devices (flash drives, printers, external hard drives) should be connected.
*All other programs should be closed and documents saved

Keep me posted with the results. I will be glad to assist further.
