The tablet and the keyboard dock have individual batteries and their status can be checked by clicking on the battery icon on the task bar in desktop mode. Battery #1 is the tablet battery and Battery #2 is the dock battery. There is no option to disable tablet battery and use only dock battery. Dock battery gets active only after tablet battery depletes.
