I'll try and keep this as short as possible.
Laptop: Alienware 17 R3
Last night I tried plugging in my laptop. I plugged the adapter into the computer then an ungrounded power source. I noticed the blue ring around the connector did not light up.
I unplugged it from the laptop and the power source then plugged it into a grounded power source and the blue ring lit up. I then proceeded to plug it into the laptop and the blue ring shut off immediately.
I then looked at the power plug and realized 1 that it smelt like burnt plastic, and 2 that there was a broken piece (see picture)
Throughout the entire steps the laptop will not turn on. The power adapted was left plugged into the laptop but not the power for at least a week. Is it possible that the battery got drained due to this short or did my motherboard just burn.
Any hep would be appreciated.
