Dell Bluetooth Keyboard stopped working

"The device cannot start" (Code 10), a totally worthless and uninformative error message.

STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE   I replaced the batteries and still get this message.

The driver is up to date; I checked for new drivers. Windows troubleshooting is absolutely worthless, and I could not find relevant information with a Google search.

Dell 65wh Type: MR90Y (Battery Dead in a second)

Hello,

I own a Dell Inspiron 15 3521, bought on jan 16, 2015.

As the title says, I get the error: "Your Battery has experienced a permanent failure and needs to be replaced." It also comes on QuickSet. The Battery is stuck at 86% and isn't charging nor discharging. I can only operate via AC power supply which seems to work fine.

I've pretty much tried all the methods suggested in the other posts related to this issue in the forum(s) and still it isn't resolved. The Battery light flashes Red continuously when the battery is plugged.

So is there any other thing I can do?

Battery Type: MR90Y 65 Wh

Dell Is just taking down his brand name in india.

Thank you!

Hello,

after installing Windows 10 Anniversary Update my XPS 15 (L521X) did not woke up from standby (S3) anymore. The screen remains dark or it shows the login picture but no login is possible because it don't react on mouse clicks and the password box will not appear.

Has anyone else this problem or knows a solution?

Hi,

I replaced the DVD drive on my laptop with a Sandisk Ultra II 240GB SSD. I cloned my HDD over to it and it appears fine the Disk Management apps but when I tried to change my boot settings to go from the new SSD it doesn't not appear anywhere in the BIOS.

Anybody experienced anything similar or have a solution they can recommend?

Thanks

Could somebody tell me where I can find the power on "beep codes" for the Dell Studio 1458 laptop?  Alternatively, could somebody tell me what 2 beeps mean on power-on?

Thanks very much.

E6430 used as remote machine—how to keep laptop healthy?

I just got a certified/refurbished Latitude E6430 which I will use as a secondary machine:

  • The laptop will remain plugged in and on 24/7; normal sleep settings will be in effect.
  • I will use my normal desktop's keyboard/mouse/monitor to Remote Desktop into the laptop. I won't normally use the laptop's screen/keyboard/trackpad.
  • I'd like to minimize dust on the laptop and the amount of space it uses.

Given these requirements, can you give me your advice me on the following?

  • Having the laptop plugged in 24/7 won't have any effect on the battery, right? (Dell's Battery FAQ says there's no problem, but…)
  • Can I run the laptop with the lid closed all the time?
  • If so, does it matter which position the laptop is in? (Running it closed and vertically, with the power adapter at the top, and with plenty of ventilation space, would be ideal – I can tuck it behind my monitor)

I want to make sure I don't do anything to damage my laptop when using it in a nontraditional way. Thanks for your help.

Dell I7559-5012 M.2 SSD

The reason I am contacting you today is about the M.2 hard drive configuration on the laptop. I know the ability for the computer to use a PCIe 3.0 M.2 is there but is the Bios is only set up to recognize a SATA III M.2. Do you know if there are going to be any BIOS updates that will allow for a PCIe 3.0? I do not want to install a SATA III M.2 if I can wait a little while and get the better one and not waste money.

Latitude E7250 - doesn't detect my Windows 7 Professional USB reinstallation drive in UEFI mode

So, I've been trying to get all of the machines in our organization up-to-speed on the latest standards.  I figured that, as long as anyone is getting any NEW machine imaged and set up for them, that machine might as well be set up in UEFI mode, with GPT partitioning, as those are the latest standards for PCs.

We have a lot of Dell machines, and I have had no problem getting tons of them booting to my Windows 7 Professional installation USB drives, in UEFI mode, and installing a build of Windows in UEFI mode, using GPT partitioning for the drive.  E6320s, E6430s, E6440s, all work fine.

The Latitude E7250 doesn't even detect the USB drive that I plug into it, that has worked flawlessly for so many other machines.  I have the latest BIOS (A13).  Secure Boot is disabled.  I have tried plugging in the USB drive in a USB 2.0 port on the E-Port Plus docking station.  I have disabled USB 3.0.

The machine does not detect USB devices in UEFI mode.

This is a laptop that costs north of $1,000, Dell.  For real?

Dell XPS 13 powers up after lid is closed and put to sleep

I have an odd problem. I've noticed that when I close my XPS 13, it shuts down (as indicated by the annoying front LED) but then later on it will start back up while it's being transported. Sometimes I'll get home, take it out of the computer case, and it will be as hot as a thermal missile because it's been running.

I'm not sure why it would just randomly start up like that? I have the power options to "sleep" when lid is closed, as seen here: http://i.imgur.com/p0x1C86.png.

I don't believe I have malware because I have reset my computer to factory settings on multiple occasions and scanned with SpyBot and Windows Defender.

In Bios "Wake on LAN" is Disabled.

For the life of me I can't think what would be triggering this besides the NSA (I joke). Does this happen to anyone else? Did you find a fix for it? Was it a dell program? Or is there a faulty piece of hardware on this computer?

Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks :)

XPS 15 9550 and S.M.A.R.T.

I run a XPS 15 9550 system with Windows 10 Pro and a Samsung NVMe 951PM SSD in Intel RST RAID mode.

I used on a clean install below driver and have not had any problems with the system or the SSD itself so far.

downloadcenter.intel.com/.../Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST-RAID-Driver

I am interested in S.M.A.R.T.  data, but CrystalDiskInfo-v7.0.0 does not show any data, nor can above SSD be monitored by Acronis Drive Monitor-v1.0.566 via SMART.

What am I missing, or does a RAID system just not allow SMART readings?

Thank you and please explain in detail.

Still having this issue

Since my original post more keys have failed or are starting to fail and I have tried looking for solutions. My conclusion is that the ribbon cable underneath is most likely the cause of failure, or maybe the cabling/membrane of the keyboard itself, or the actual connector on the motherboard/daughterboard. Many people are ending up replacing the keyboard, however due to my findings I recommend if you're going to try to fix it yourself try looking for the entire palmrest assembly as the keyboard is a p.i.t.a to have to replace on its own.

At this time I no longer feel that this supposed "2-in-1" is capable of being more than an oversized overheating tablet. Dell needs to acknowledge there's a design defect and offer a resolution to us!
