Precision 15 3000 Series (3510) Memory

I have a Precision 15 3000 Series (3510) on order, and I have a question regarding the compatible memory modules for this system. May be a silly question but better to be safe than sorry...

The online manual states that the maximum memory module size is 8 GB, but there were options when ordering the laptop to buy it with 16 GB modules. I presume that the manual is outdated as surely all of the options on offer will be compatible, but can someone confirm this? Can the laptop actually take 16 GB memory modules?

Note that I didn't order any 16GB modules, just thinking about future upgrades.

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi,

I recently bought inspiron 15 7559 i7 and found that the keyboard is bilingual.

It's little bit hard for me to type as the enter key is really small.

Would it be possible to get another keyboard (with different layout) and replace it?

Thanks

Latitude E5540 screen flickers then fades to greysih white and goes blank

I have a refurbished Latitiude E5540 that recently went out of warranty. While using it last night, my screen began flickering, the colors changed, the text looked blurry and multi-colored (almost like double vision) and the screen faded to a greyish white and became blank. I turned it off, tried to log back in but the screen was still a greyish white.  This was the first timme anything like this has happened.

To get it working normally again I  had to unplug the power source, remove the battery and press the on/off button to discharge the laptop. When i installed the battery and plugged in the power source I was able to log in normally and use it without incident for a while but the same issue happened again and I have to go through the same process to get it working again.

Since last night, every time I use it the same problem happens.

Can anybody help or provide me with assistance with this issue

Hi,

I own Dell XPS 15. using it for more than 3 years now, Yesterday i was able to successfully swicth on the laptop and had hardly used for 2 minutes. Battery was getting charged(maybe around 50% charge). All of a sudden screen went blank. I tried to switch on but nothing worked. I checked if battery was getting charged and it wasn't getting charged. The light of the AC adapter near the connector was not lighting. I swtiched off charging .I removed the adapter from the laptop and tried to switch on the adapter switch. Blue lights were coming near the connector. Moment i connect the adapter to the laptop, the blue light flickers for a minute and goes blank. and power button is also not swtiching on, Please help.

Dell XPS 15 9530 and Windows 10 Anniversary Update problems.

Hi all,

Just installed the Windows 10 anniversary update yesterday.
Most things seem to work, however I got the following issues:

- USB 2.0 ports don't seem to work anymore (3.0 do however);
- Audio card is not detected anymore (no sound)

I was wondering if others experienced the same issues and if any of you have found a solution for this. If I may believe the Dell website we might not expect an update for this? This € 2000+ laptop is not even 1,5 year old!

Thank you for your time!

Best regards

Hi Has anyone experienced touchscreen failure ? I emailed dell and they provided solutions via email which I did all of them with no success. Before calling them I wanted to see if anyone had this problem and it was resolved without returning the computer for service. Thank you in advance

Battery is charging but system is not using it?!?

I am using my dell 5537 i7 variant from approx. 3 years ... I've never got any problems with it.

Suddenly, a week ago, I got a message on boot stating ...

"warning The battery cannot be identified. This system will be unable to charge this battery press any key to continue" ... and the battery LED is blinking orange (loop of one white blink and one orange blink)

I mean what is wrong with the system? I've never changed the battery - It's the same battery came with laptop ... and I've hardly used it - I mostly run my laptop with the adapter only - w/o battery.

The battery was healthy, it was giving me 6 hours of backup - and there is no physical damage at all.

Now, what should I do? I've tried to clean the battery and it's port on laptop ... still not working ...

Is there any way to fix this issue?

Regards,

Abhishek

Dell XPS-M1330

Hello everyone! I am currently working on a Dell XPS M1330 computer for a friend. When I got it, it was running Windows Vista at a very slow pace, and was bloated with PUP and malware. It had some strange bugs too, such as the fact that it made a high pitched buzz sound when it ran unrelated to the hard drive (I've heard of Dell XPS 13 computers doing this before, so I wasn't worried), and Control panel wouldn't open on one of the accounts. I decided to factory reset the machine, which was quick and easy. Then a problem arose. This morning, I had it propped up against my laptop bag, and I was rummaging around in it, but I push the XPS over in the process (It was on the floor), and it fell over on my toe (ow). After this, I checked to see if it was ok, (seemed like a small fall), but the computer was frozen. I hard reset it, and it had some serious trouble booting. I figured out that it was just because of low battery, so I plugged it in and it seemed to work fine. Then, about 30 minutes later when it was installing updates and such it blue screened for seemingly no reason and said error: Memory_Management. I tried to reboot, but it blue screened again. I ran diagnostics from the F12 menu, and it passed all the tests until the Memory March B test, where bank A failed. I tried opening the machine and switching the RAM slots to see if one of the banks had gone bad, (From age or the slight fall earlier in the day), but upon trying to boot again it would refuse to even start. It just sits blank and flashes the Caps lock button. I ran the LCD diagnostic by hitting powerbutton - D, and that worked fine, but everything else fails. I even switched the RAM back to the original banks, but it still fails to do anything else. Have I broken it!? Is it RAM, age, ESD, motherboard, or what? Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

Hello. I've permanently the F4 led on. It's the FN key of the microphone, and has a LED, similar to the CAPS LOCK led, and it's always on.

If I press FN+F4 the led don't turn off.

It's annoying specially at night if you're watching a movie.

this is a kind of bug?

Cheers.

XPS 9550 won't charge, orange LED blinking

As of yesterday, my 9550 won't charge. The battery stays at 87%, but if I unplug the AC adapter, the laptop shuts down immediately. I read about the issue online and removed the battery and pressed the power button for 15 seconds, but that didn't help. In BIOS, the battery is shown as "idle", and the charger as 130W, which it is. The LED is blinking orange at all times, and the 5-LED battery indicator on the right blinks the 1st, the 3rd and the 5th LEDs when pressed.

The machine is 15", 16GB of RAM, 500GB SSD, non-touch and it's running Ubuntu.

XPS 13 9350: Prevent battery charging if above 50%

Hey :). I'm coming from a Lenovo machine (which I returned due to build defects). They had a software which prevented the battery from charging until it dropped under 50%. This is very useful for maintaining battery life. I saw that Dell has something similar in BIOS but unfortunately it doesn't seem to have any effect. The setting I'm using is under "power management" -> "primary battery charge configuration". I set "custom charge start" at 50% and "custom charge stop" at 95%. The stop works, but not the start. It always charges.

I kind of remember there used to be a tool to control this as well. Any ideas?

I just purchased this labtop and was running fine until after about a week the computer needed to update Bios. I closed all running programs and allowed for the computer to update. When I came back to check on my computer it would say no boot device found press any key to restart. I would do this repeatedly to no avail. I ran ePSA diagnostics and it said everything was working with the computer. Please help!!!

Dell XPS 13 9350 Windows 10 system image update?

$

Now that the latest anniversary update has hit from MS. Will Dell be providing updated system images for current customers? It is not feasible for what ever reason if we have to reload Windows 10 from the factory image currently installed. Then turn around and go through windows update for this all new anniversary updated version. Just purchased this laptop 2-3 months ago.
