Is it possible to install other operating systems than Windows 10 (e.g. Linux) on a Dell Latitude 11? Will the BIOS bootloader allow to boot in legacy mode? Are there any other issues to consider?
So far, I could not find any reports on the internet.
Thank you for any comments!
I have an XPS15, 9350, running Windows 10 with latest updates. I am trying to change the light settings on the keyboard, specifically the length of time the light remains on. I'm sure there is a setting for this but I have not been able to find it. Anyone? Thank you.
Does this model accepts 1TB SSD drives?
Like this 1TB Sandisk X400 M.2 SATA drive?
Hi supporter,
I buy a laptop DELL XPS 13 9350 from Microsoft store (NY) last week. But it stop charging at 80%. I have read all related topics on this forum, but my issue isn't solve. I did:
- Update Window
- update BIOS ver 1.4.4
- BIOS > setting > general Battery Information: health excellent, 80% (Idle), AC Adapter = 45W
-Power Management > Primary Battery Charge Configuration: Standard
- all step here (www.dell.com/.../SLN296542), except (step 5 & 6).
- I ran diognasis test in BIOS: everything passed.
What could I do next? Thanks
I have multiple 5404s, most of which function properly. A few of them that were just received don't have the capability of utilizing GPS data for a program which we use regularly. I've been informed that the GPS data is accessible via the NMEA COM port driver. On the 5404s in question that the GPS isn't working right, this NMEA port is not listed in the drivers, whereas on the working 5404s it is present.
My Google searching has turned up empty, other than Dell Wireless Manager is used in conjunction with this driver. There are no NMEA drivers listed on the 5404 download page, nor is there a Dell Wireless Manager app. I've already reinstalled the WWAN driver, which states it is packaged with the GPS driver as well, and the NMEA port still will not show up, and further testing shows the GPS data is not being collected for our program.
If anyone has any suggestions or better knowledge of this subject, I'd appreciate your help and welcome any replies.
I am doing a clean reinstall of WIndows 7 on a Inspiron 5748 laptop. Windows installed ok and I used another working computer to download all the recommended drivers for the 5748.
I found the instructions on correct install order and installed them but the two drivers that work the wifi and bluetooth will not install.. just give "install failed" message.
Everything else works on the laptop (I'm using it to post here with a wired LAN connection) but I have no wifi.
What can I do next?
these are the driver files that won't work:

I have a Latitude E6510 and was having issues with it booting up intermittently.
Now the Dell logo appears with a progress bar below 50% complete. The BIOS revision is A06.
At this point it will go no further. Pressing F2 you get a Preparing to enter setup, but no setup.
Pressing F12 you get the Preparing one-time boot menu, but nothing else.
I have tried removing power and battery and holding down the power button for a few minutes and also doing the same after removing the bios battery as well. Same results.
Is there another way to get it to boot past the bios load?
Thanks,
Andy
Warning that the recent BIOS update on the XPS 15 9550 caused Windows to no longer boot.
It is Windows 10 Pro with Bitlocker enabled. Startup Repair and System Restore Point fail to help. The laptop boots to a blank blue screen for about 1 min then just powers off. Turning off Secure Boot did not help either.
Reinstall the system completely from scratch appears to be the only solution
my @ keyboard button has been mapped to " and vice versa. just wondering on how to fix it or if i need to send it back to get it fixed
My 256Gb SSD failed while the laptop is still under NBD warranty. I made over 20 calls to Dell and have spent about 5 hours on the phone with 10 different consultants over the last two weeks but each time they have a new excuse for not being able to do replace the drive. Below is an activity log of all the calls that were made. The Technical Support at Dell is shocking and there seems to be no dispute resolution or complaints department at all.

HI,
I have an XPS 15 9550 laptop with 4K screen. I installed the recently released BIOS update which is supposed to address the flickering screen issue. Previously I only ever experienced some minor intermittent flicker at brightness level 0 but after the update, flickering was occurring quite frequently - I checked this upto brightness level 50% and it occurs at all the way up.
It appears the update has made things much much worse Luckily I managed to roll back to A06 which must be the previous release as its the only one on the downloads page.
Anyone else find the update made things much worse?
Be good to know what Dell is doing to sort this out (again).
Recently, I started noticing black smears on the edges of my XPS 15 9550 (bought about a month ago) appearing after a few hours of usage. I was wondering if these smudges are part of normal usage or if there's something faulty about the machine.
Not sure if this bit of info will help, but I brought the laptop with me to a country with relatively high temperatures, and it randomly turned on in my bag a few times. (the heat alerted me) Maybe the heat might have to do with this? not sure.
Thanks.
I just got off the phone after a very frustrating 45 min conversation with customer support so I apologize for my tone.
My Inspiron 5547 has a badly broken right hinge that is damaging the body of the computer. I know this is a manufacturing issue because there are about 100 other complaints about this EXACT issue on this support forum. Dell has not listed this issue as a manufacturing error and, as far as I know, no 5547 owners received any notice that this would be a problem. My guess is Dell did the math and figured that it would be less expensive to ignore the problem than it would be to order a recall.
My issue started about 6 months after I purchased my computer. I admit, I'm way past warranty now, but this is so obviously Dell's fault that I find it hard to care. Ordinarily I wouldn't make a stink but I don't think it's fair to offload a defective product in the hopes that your customers won't notice.
The representatives I spoke to said that the repairs would cost $430 (including shipping, handling, parts etc.), which is infuriating. I can't imagine how many people have paid that fee thinking that THEY were the problem. I hope Dell is happy with that stolen cash.
So here's the deal: If someone from Dell helps me then I'll continue buying Dell products. If not, I won't buy one ever again. And by the way, I'm 25 and a new customer, this is my first Dell computer (what's that old saying? "You only get one chance to make a first impression"?) so let's do some math: I'll probably spend about $20k - $30k on computers over the rest of my life. The repair cost for this is $430. So, Dell, what's it going to be? $20k later or $430 now?
It's a trick question, if you choose "$430 now" I'll just buy a new computer from a company that cares about its customers. Oh, and I'll make sure all my friends know about this experience when they're looking for a new computer.
P.S. To the user DELL-Terry B: you dealt with the people on the other forum threads about this issue but you haven't responded to my friend request from over a month ago. If you're reading this, please help me out.
I don't know if I'm in the right place? But I have a inspiron e1505 and want to restore it to the original factory settings. any help will be appreciated.
Thanks, Edware
I was using my laptop recently, the battery was getting low so I plugged in the charger.
There was a pop sound in the speakers, and the laptop went dead.
Now when I plug in the charger, the blue light on the charger goes out.
The charger works fine with a different laptop, and the blue light comes on when not plugged into
any machine. As soon as plug the charger into the dead laptop, the blue light goes out.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Scott
