Need driver help please.

So I just reformatted a Dell Inspiron N5010 that had been running Linux, and is now running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Now the laptop won't connect to the internet, and it says drivers are missing. I brought up the device manager.

There are yellow exclamation marks next to.
Network Controller
PCI Simple Communications Controller

I have come across various posts about this issue. Some saying that the drives need to be fully deleted, then re-installed. Others giving links to other sites webpages with a long list of various drives, and I'm just not sure which ones I need to download. I'm sure I have come across the drives I need at one point or another, but I just didn't realize it at the time.

I have Network Adapter Driver for Windows 7* (PROwin64.exe) downloaded onto a flash drive. When I tried to install it, it says "Cannot install drivers. No Intel(R) Adapters are present in this computer."

When I plug my charger into my studio 1537 laptop the charging light goes out.

I have replaced the DC jack and cable and bought a new charging cord etc, but the same thing keeps happening. What is my next step?

Intel webcam Av2500 in Dell XPS 12 doesn't work in Skype

Hi All,

I have been unable to get the XPS 12 webcam to work in Skype.

model is 9250. The integrated webcam is an Intel AV2500.  windows 10.

I tried updating the driver, testing it with various programs and sites for webcams, but it just doesn't work. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device, but nothing helped that I tried.

It does work with the Microsoft app called CAM, but that is all.

From my conclusion, this is a very strange webcam and is proprietary on how the driver works. I don't know why, but it doesn't play with anything that is out there other than the MS App.

Weird !!

Hi guys, my laptop was bought around last September. Recently, I have had issues where my laptop will not leave the 50% zone when charging. Also, as soon as I unplug the power cable from my laptop, it turns off immediately. I already ran the diagnostic tests and upgrades all the driver and its BIOS. Apparently nothing should be wrong, yet my laptop will not charge and will die. And no there is nothing wrong with the power source. Please help, thank you!

My computer wont turn on anymore

I was working on my computer, when the screen suddenly started flashing on and off, sometimes slow, sometimes fast until it finally turned off.  I tried charging it even though I am sure it was charged fully when this happened, I tried to turn it on again but it won't turn on.

I just got this computer 5 days ago for my birthday, it is an Inspiron 7568 2-in-1 Dell computer(new).

Can this problem be fixed, or should I return it and get a new computer?

Parallel Universe & Bugs

Just curious as to whether anyone else thinks the following replacement process has a bug:

1  Dell approves a request to issue a replacement laptop with software installed (i.e. original XPS15 with Windows 10 Pro (64bit) English)) - thank you for approving this Dell after many hours of our time spent on the problem.

2  Dell sends someone up to pick up malfunctioning laptop (continually crashing)

3  Dell takes it away to check that it still has all of its parts

4  Provided we have not removed/changed any parts (other than presumably those parts already changed/replaced by Fujitsu as Dell's agent on the first call out), Dell issues a zero value voucher to us

5  Either Dell contacts us or we contact Dell to place an order for a replacement product

6  We then wait for a replacement to arrive

Dell has advised that their replacement process usually takes approximately 3 to 4 weeks and that they cannot fast track it, nor offer any alternate solution - I have offered up 2 so far & have a 3rd in mind but Dell won't listen.

We don't happen to have a spare laptop just lying around whilst this happens, but I am required to pay my Software Engineer who requires a properly functioning laptop to do his job.

Any ideas of what the bug might be ?- cause I'll be damned, I think I'm living in a parallel universe, as the Dell ProSupport Manager cannot seem to recognize the bug

Touchpad: small movements not registering (XPS 9550)

Hello,

I yesterday got my XPS 9550 (i7, 512SSD, 16Ram, FHD), and I'm having an issue with the touchpad: it registers small movements poorly.

I tried a fix I found which involces changing the driver to a generic Synaptics one, which introduced new problems like worse precision and poor scrolling, but it was then able to register small movements, so evidently the hardware is capable of registering those movements.

I'm wondering: is everyone experiencing this issue? It sounds like it's a driver issue, but if that's the case then everyone with that driver (which as I understand is included in Windows Update) should have the same problem right? I just find that hard to believe as many reviews have praised the touchpad and haven't mentioned this issue.

Also, is there a better solution for this issue other than changing to the Synaptics generic driver (which makes other stuff worse)?

Appreciate help!

Low CPU Frequency on Dell 7559

Hi, there:

I bought a Dell Inspiron 7559 notebook with Windows 10 64-bits installed on it. The user experience is really poor. The system is lag. After system power on, CPU frequency is locked at 0.78GHz. And, no way to make it higher. The only way to get the CPU frequency back to 3.0GHz is system reboot.  However, it down to 0.78GHz sooner.

After some google on this issue, somebody said it can be solved if restore the BIOS to older version(v1.0.1). It really solved this issue. The CPU speed with BIOS v1.0.1 seems normal. But, I don't think is a good way to use older BIOS. I've also try BIOS v1.0.3 , v1.0.4, v1.1.3, v1.1.5, v1.1.7. None of them can help on this issue.

Any idea?

Hello,

I have a new Latitude 7470 laptop, running Ubuntu 14.04.

Whenever I dock / undock it it freezes, and I need to physically shut it down before I can use it again.
This means I have to shut the computer down every time i move it from my desk, and before I return it to its docking station, which is extremely annoying.

- Is this problem common?
- Is there a solution / workaround?

Thanks.

Why sell a PC configured like this?

XPS 15 9550 power management

0

I've been fighting with to get this machine ready to use, but it has the most bizarre power set of management bugs I've ever seen.   I've installed every driver and BIOS update listed in the Dell support area.

 - Failure to shutdown - a request to shutdown merely rebooted until I finally held the power button for a hard power-off function.

 - Turning on in the middle of the night and running the battery down since the power supply was unplugged.   Once I caught it power up during the day.    And I've disabled all wakeup timers in the Windows power management settings

  - I've got it on the TB15 Thunderbolt dock, but after the last BIOS + Video driver update, the USB and video behavior are intermittent.

Any suggestions?   Previous models and message archive searches suggest that the Intel Management Engine has been the culprit in the past, and that it should be uninstalled.   But I don't have any idea what the Intel Management Engine does and what I'll lose if it is uninstalled.

PC Not recognizing AC Adapter, Will Not Charge

Hey Forum,

I have a Dell Inspiron 13z 5323 Laptop that I have been using for roughly 3 years.  Recently, my computer hasn't been able to recognize my AC Adapter (65 W, I'm pretty sure), and therefore the PC has disabled charging automatically.

I bought a new DC Jack and Battery and installed them onto my computer manually, and I updated to the latest BIOS update, but that does not seem to be the solution because my computer still says "Plugged in, not charging".

Is there anything else I can do to help this without making more purchases?  I've seen that a last resort is to obtain a new motherboard but I would really like to not do that.  Let me know if anyone has had a similar problem and was able to find a solution.
